After crossing the Harbour Bridge you proceed to Windsor, on the north-western fringe of Sydney, via Beecroft and Castle Hill. Windsor was one of Sydney's earliest settlements, with the Hawkesbury River acting as the main transport link to the coast. You meet your local guide at St Matthews Church, Windsor for a short walk to see historical buildings and the town centre (in inclement weather remain in the vehicle).
One of Windsor's many historic buildings
Proceed to the wharf for a 2.5 hour scenic cruise on Hawkesbury River (with commentary and morning tea). Arriving back at Windsor you enjoy a hot lunch at the Macquarie Arms Hotel, the oldest building in Australia erected as an Inn. Adjacent to the Hotel is the Hawkesbury Museum and Information Centre, and if time permits you may choose to view its exhibits. After lunch proceed to the Australian Pioneer Village, which recreates an authentic village using original buildings transported to the site from surrounding areas. You can then return to the city via the western suburbs.
